This one, on This Week Only. I've been kinda looking for a new monitor for a while, my current two have some bugs in them (Literally, though I'm pretty sure my new room means I won't have any more little visitors). It seems to have good reviews, though when I googled for some reviews, they listed the contrast ratio as being 800:1 rather than the 15000:1 listed on the product page. Is this a mistake by OcUK or is it a newer revision with a miles better contrast?

I'm currently running a 21.6" Samsung SM-2253LW at 1680x1050 and a 19" LG L194WT at 1440x900.

Going by size, it would be a huge increase in both area and resolution, I would use it as the main monitor and bump the Samsung down to the secondary one, I don't have enough desktop space for three screens!

So... the main point of this thread is for clarification on the contrast, and the rest is... should I buy it if I have ~£240 to spend on a new monitor, or should I look for something else? I'm mainly looking at this one due to the 1920x1200 resolution, though if there is something better at the same price point I would consider that too :p

Thanks!

800:1 is the static contrast, 15,000:1 is the dynamic contrast. Don't get bogged down by the specifications though. We just made this monitor 'monitor of the month' due to the exceptional value offered.

I'm also considering the HZ281HPB (or one of the Iiyama 27'' options) to finally join the 21st century and make the jump to an LCD.

I'm still using an 21'' Eizo CRT, which I bought second-hand about 6 years ago for £40 and it still a superb screen (albeit very bulky, and gulps a massive 120W of juice when running)

However, my slightly ageing PC and graphics card is only really capable of running the latest games at 1280x1024 or thereabouts. This looks fine on the Eizo, however I'm wondering how games at some widescreen equivalent of this resolution will look scaled up on the behemoth which is the Hanns.G. I could possibly push it to 1600x1024 on most games by turning down a few quality settings. I'm not a huge gamer and am not too fussy, but I'd prefer it not to look terrible.

Anyone have any experience of running non-native (lower) resolution gaming on the Hanns.G or Iiyama 27'' screens?
