i got my xbox360 this week aswell, only got it connected to live and my pc yesterday, great fun to use a fiddle with and whatnot

one thing was people always said we had to fiddle with firewalls to get this media connect thing to work, but i didn't have to do squat for that, maybe it's windows firewall that needs that stuff

Right both my 360 and PC are hardwired into my router. I installed the program and have it running, turned on my 360 and did the steps you said but it doesnt come up in the devices and the pc doesnt show up on the 360 network.

Any more clues?

Pretty much definately going to be firewall settings that are causing the problem, either not allowing the right programs or IPs to access each other.

My advice would be uninstall net.framework 2 and windows media connect.Then go to this place http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/pcsetup.
