wonder if someone could help me.

I purchase this memory

G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM) [F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM ]

I have 2 blue ram slot next to each other and 2 black ones next to each other. On my p4 if i wanted dual i had to install 1 in 1 blue and 1 in the corresponding black. When i do that with this, it shows up as single channel and with a timing of 9-9-9-24. When i install the 2 sticks in the 2 blue slots (right next to each other) it finds it as dual but timings are 8-8-8-24 so im a bit confused. Can anyone help, had a look on some sites but no idea!

They should both be in the same colour slots. The lower the timings the better.
So install it in the 2 blue ones.

cheers Philly for your reply, i take it that it has changed sonce my last build (6+ years) when you needed to skip a slot so to speak.

They are now both on the blue slot (no slot in between) and OC to 800Mhz running at 11-11-11-29

EDIT: are these timings not high for this spec of ram?

well the spec on the ocuk page say 8-8-8-24 at 1600mhz, so i would assume something is up there, could you change them manually and see if they will boot/work?

yep tried them manually, no go! trying to get a respons from gskill support.
