Crickey 4GHz on the top flagship CPU that's absolute rubbish the current
Q6600 do that obviously they must be better than current but as usual Toms Hardware don't do it justice wish Intel send me one I would be hoping for nearer 5GHz from that CPU.

Wish I was so patient, dam I've bought every upgrade since my Athlon 2000

I just can't help it very expensive but don't drink or smoke so it has to be spent somewhere.

The trick is that the 45nm chips appear to do 4GHz on not much juice and being cooled with air. Good luck doing that on a Kentsfield.

A big "however" is that they don't seem to offer much of a difference in gaming performance terms over a standard 3GHz Kentsfield. Or Athlon 64, tbh.

The new 45nm Duals are hitting crazy numbers on air aswell, the E8500 hitting 4.7Ghz, may of been suicide, but 4.3 was doable at 1.42v.

I am in the same boat... ie, wanting to build a new computer to replace my old rig (check my sig! ) but with the 45nm chips coming out I will wait a few more months.

Even when they are finally released expect the prices to be jacked up for a few months. If you want to build a PC now and have the funds you might as well go ahead and do it now. The CPUs by Intel available now are very good and priced quite well.

still makes nawt difference in gaming

i'll wait for Nehalem, just got a nice q6600 that will scale to sub 4ghz w.out stupid volts under water.
