Hello, as per title, I'm thinking of getting a 360 again, but when my mate brought over his elite to mine, GTA IV looked terrible on my normal 16:9 tv...
Would I be able to run 1280x720 on my 17'' monitor using a hdmi-dvi converter? Also would it be possible to plug in my Z5500 speakers via optical or coax to the 360, if so how would the cabling look like ?

I'd love to play IV but it looks just to terrible on a normal tv, it didn't feel like I was playing a game at all unlike on my pc for instance because the screen felt so distant and unsharp, even though I was sitting like a metre from it ( 26''er)...
 
yeah VGA cable will do all that, has optical out to plug into your Z5500's as well (thats my exact setup). Even on a lowly 17" it should still look distinctly better than SD.

Okay thanks, just gotta find myself 100 more euro's and I have a 360 :).

Do you know if the cheapest 360 available, the xbox 360 arcade (for 200€), comes with the falcon mobo and benq dvd drive? I really want a benq & falcon...
 
they should all be falcons by now. Theres a way of checking using the barcode on the box, can't remember what you should look for though. Should be able to find a picture on google. The DVD drive is more pot luck, again there are photos of each dvd drive around, but the drive has to be open to see unfortunately.
 
Just check the box and make sure it says 175w on it before you buy it. I bought my elite falcon in January/February and it is a Falcon.

Pretty much all the drives i have seen now are Benq, my cousin bought one last year around november time and it is a benq, my mate bought one earlier than that in october and it has a benq. Mine has a benq.
 
Ty, just need to pull my parent's legs to cough up some money they promised me :).

I am pretty much only doing this for GTA IV tbh, I just can't wait any more, gta have been the best games ever imo on pc, so I must play GTA IV, getting desperate it won't come for pc :(... Sure there are some exclusives that might be fun ( halo 3 will amuse for for an hour or 2 I guess, PGR 3 & 4 too, but I can't think of any other exclusives that interest me). Any other game I just play on my pc, more fps, details and I'm just too used to kb&mouse...
 
I have a gaming PC as well and theres plenty of games to play that aren't on PC. Lots of good games on Live Arcade in particular, plus Fable 2 looks awesome :)

I've played fable the lost chapters but got bored after 2 hours, I don't like rpg's really :(.

I know it's a rumor, but they should really open their mouths: just announce it or say it will never come to the pc, then I'd have a clear decision: Buy the 360 or not... :mad:


ps. I'm trying to convince myself to buy a 360, but I'm having a hard time...

Well just glancing at my shelf we've got Skate, The Darkness, Amped 3, Crackdown, Forza 2, PGR3, Saints Row, Ninja Gaiden 2, Civilization revolution, Guitar Hero 2 and 3 (I know 3 is on PC but its more of a console game), FIFA 08 (completely different to the one on PC), Rockstar's Table Tennis, Burnout Paradise (announced for PC I think but again more of a console game to me).

Then there are games which are on PC but are more appealing to me on console, like Flatout UC, Assassins Creed and Tomb Raider Anniversary.

Then I have about 10 XBLA games, stuff like Rez, Switchball (which I think is on pc?) and Bomberman.

Skate looks boring, it's a skating game ?
The Darkness looks a bit odd, what are those creatures :confused: ?
Amped 3, again, it's just not my type of games, not really interested in any sports games.
Crackdown looks quite fun though, just not sure about the graphics but then, games aren't about that, so I should like it :)...
Forza 2 : Awesome, just a shame I really suck with a joypad/ 360 controller in driving games.
PGR3: Awesome.
Saints Row: SR2 is coming to pc, no reason to buy a 360 for it imo...
Ninja Gaiden 2: iirc this is like Devil may cry right? If so then it's fun to play for 30 minutes every day, hope it has a nice story...
Civilization revolution : Looks like a dumbed down civ4 from what I see on the civfanatics forums...
Guitar Hero 2 and 3 : I've already finished Guitar hero 3 on pc...
FIFA 08: I've had enough of footy games since PES5.
R* Table tennis: Looks boring if I have to be honest.
Burnout is coming to pc and appears to run superb on pc from what the makers claim...
Flatout UC: Played Flatout 2 to the death, I doubt I'll replay it if it offers so little new things...
Assassins Creed: Playing on pc thx, no reason to get it for 2 platforms when I already have it on pc.
Tomb Raider Anniversary: Got bored after 2 hours of playing it...


If any game comes out on pc too, I'm getting it for the pc, it's far nicer imo to play with mouse and kb for most games, and the games like DMC4, I have an imitation ps2 controller which feels much nicer in my hand than the 360 controller, and for all racing games except really arcady ones, I use a steering wheel on my pc.... The sometimes better eye candy and better performance is a bonus too.

I might be not sure about spending on a console, but that's because I'm just so used to pc, spending on a pc it's a no brainer usually for me, if one game ( well except crysis) doesn't run/look well enough on my current spec, a hardware upgrade is inevitable...

That isn't helping me buy one :D.

That's the problem I keep telling myself that all the time, but I also keep wanting to play gta iv every time I hear / think of it...

Nevermind. Its the talk of not being interested in the other games that started me thinking you wanted convincing to buy it, but you've already made your decision :)

You missed Gears of War 1/2, Rockband/2, Halo 3, Battlefield Bad Company, Fightnight Round 3, Dead Rising, Soul Calibur 4, Street Fighter 4, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Banjo Kazooie nuts and bolts, Dead Space.

Most of those are not out yet but hopefully will be out before December, some January.
 
Just a small thing to note - you won't get a BenQ drive in any new 360 now. All 360s manufactured after April 08 will come with the Liteon drives. The disc tray looks exactly the same as the BenQ but they are different :) Still the same spec (in terms of speed and noise) as the BenQ though.

Is that a reply to me? If so thats because they aren't on my shelf :p (Well Halo 3 is but I must have missed that one)

Aye i tend to skim read posts :D

just console exclusives (and games only worth playing on console) coming before xmas and some in Q1 next year. well worth looking into though. :D
