Hey guys,

I live, eat, drink and sleep football - but I'm awful at it.

On Friday I am supposed to be playing 5-a-side with a few mates from school, I used to kick around a bit in college but I was awful.

I don't particularly want to make myself look like a ***, so have any of you got any ideas on how I can improve my game?

I used to be a decentish goalkeeper for my secondary school, but I used to be compared to Enckelman because I couldn't pass.

So if any of you can give some tips, I would love you long time.

Stay in the net, can't imagine there are too many people wanting to go in anyway. :p

If someone happens to pass you the ball at any time, run away screaming, or fall on the floor and feign injury! The latter tends to work for a few pros, so I can't see why it won't work for you.

Not sure, maybe you should say you've got a sore leg and you want to do nets the whole time? Other than that all I will say is kick it with the side of your foot and not the toe :p

When i was younger i used to keep kicking ball often at a wall at different paces building up faster and harder as time went by which helped me with my ball control more aswell as passing.Usually sprinted around passing with my brother too doing various longballs or short passes quickly to each other without stumbling at high speeds.

You need to overclock your time on the ball! (sorry I can't help, I play in goal because I can't kick the ball well, best to concentrate on your throwing to get round the kicking)

I know what you mean. I play 7s twice a week and yesterday's bunch (group of 20 something yr olds) have nicknamed me papadopolous *****feet. I know I'm crap, got a touch of an elephant but generally if theres a short pass on, I'll go for that cos I cant go past people (lack of pace and skill) but I'm quite good at making runs to drag opposition players out of position......for some reason they think i could be a threat despite my crapness :D

The only way to improve is to keep practising.

Of course there are different roles in footy. If you've got a beast of a tackle or can score for fun you don't need to be a brilliant passer.

Too bad I can't do either of those.

Aah well, I'll just go out and enjoy myself.

Unless you're a pro that's the important thing.

At least if you try your best you can roundhouse anyone that has a problem :D

If its just a kickabout with mates from school then why are you worrying?

Just go and have a laugh.

If you were in goals against Man City then maybe you could have something to worry over. Maybe you'd even save a Da Silva pen.

Aah, it's just I'm absolutely awful and I tend to embarrass myself with a few open goal misses.
