I am completely lost here (bethere/exchange related)

Im moving into a new place soon and the g/f just ran bethere to set-up the internet ready for when we move in or as close as possible. Anyway given them the telephone number and they say we are very far from the exchange and may only get 1.5mbps

Checking on samknows.com gives me this info

And "According to BT Wholesale, your line should be able to support a 0Mbps or greater ADSL connection via ADSL Max."

Now the distance from exchange in straight line distance is 1.62k/m and they say at around 2km you get 15mbs roughly. I know this is straight line but how much cabling must be extra for me to get a "1.5mb" connection

If by decent connection you mean fast speed then it would appear not.

Mrs rang bethere again to find out how far from exchange we are and its almost 4km and we have a "insignifcant" signal aaaaaaaargh!!

you have cable in your options list, might wanna go down that route if ADSL is out of the question.
