i am curious what the comparison is like between...

The main difference will be the use of AA, and higher resolution = clearer smoother picture, oh and couple that with an increase in frames per second from 30 on the consoles (normally) to 60+ on PC with a high end card. Shame that PC games aren't a little more optimized otherwise the difference in performance would be even greater.

On ported games, you're guaranteed the following:
Higher res textures
Anti aliasing
Higher supported resolution
Better loading times <-not specifically a gfx thing but meh
Less obvious frame drops (You know when a ps3/360 game is taxing the limited hardware)
Will generally feel a lot snappier due to the higher fps

On PC exclusive games or multiplatform games that have had dedicated PC support, you'll notice a lot more microdetail and texture quality that makes full use of 1080p and higher resolutions.

On the other hand, consoles barely make use the resolution available at 720p and have to resort to using blurring and other post-processing techniques to mask the lack of detail.

Just compare Battlefield 3 at Ultra (with FXAA and Motion Blur turned off) to it's console counterparts - the increase in detail is immense.

cool. thanks for the information.

then reason i have my 360 is because of the halo series but is out on pc?

you cant really tell the difference on youtube or what you read you have to experience it. I game regular on my 360 but i am shocked at how poor the picture quality is and i can clearly tell it is an upscaled image and not 1080p.

Another thing you can't witness on a video is how fluid it all is, you need to be infront of a screen personally to feel how fluid a game at 60fps and higher actually is, for instance i have had dirt 3 on 360, and have dirt 3 on my PC and the difference is night and day, the graphics arent at all bad on a 360 but the PC has very good attention to detail, extra polished touches to reflections and better textures. and the game feels so smooth playing at 60fps in 1080p than that of the console version.

A PC with a 670 is a clear winner by a mile providing the game on the PC has been ported right. but you really have to experience it yourself to fully understand how much different it all is.

Just my opinion.

or he could just compare BF3 in ultra at 1080p and turn the settings down to the lowest and change the res to 1280x720 to get an understanding of how the console version will look.

i played skyrim on the xbox for ages and i thought it was fine but when i finished building my pc and i played it on that with my 7850 the difference in graphics (being at ultra) and the smoothness of the game is just incredible, plus the true hd resolution is just incredible it really brings it onto another level!

you need to see it in person iv been pc gaming since 2009 and i got used to the graphics but the other day while in asda i saw an xbox360 on display showing forza and man did it look rough! low detail, blur, jaggies everywhere and it didnt even look like it was in hd!

theres way too many good reasons too not use a pc for gaming.
