Because I honestly do not need erm well yes two of them

See I ordered a Vive Pro from HTC early in April and after 4 days the order showed no longer active so I thought okay, Emailed HTC support asking them what happened?
No response, later on in the week I noticed Overclockers also did the Pro, so this morning I pre-ordered from them.

6:30pm I receive a text from DPD stating my delivery will be on the 16th (awesome I think to myself Overclockers rocks) Then I notice the text came from HTC and checking I find out it is my original order from HTC.

Thus Sadly in the morning, I shall have to cancel the Overclockers order because unlike buying two 1080ti by accident which can end up as a positive I really can't see a reason to own two.

It is interesting how much validity people put into third person opinions.

I felt the same way until I tried it myself, I was lucky to get access to one and in my eyes in my opinion after holding it in my hands, using it for 2 hours oh my god is it worth it YES!! to me for my own experience and use it is, I just hope more people will actually try one before listening to the masses.

Overclockers canceled my order now to just wait for the 16th.

Because, the difference in visual quality is not worth the price. And it's not just one review or person saying it.

And even If I tried one and put it on and thought it was good, I wouldn't buy it at that price. You don't even get controllers for the price. You will have to pay more for the wireless and the knuckle controllers.

I would pay £800-£1000 for a true gen 2 headset, not this incremental upgrade.

I am delighted that you are happy with your purchase, and, at the end of the day, that's all that matters.

Not interested in 1 let alone 2.

Will stick with my day 1 Vive till something worthwhile comes out.

Thanks for sharing the vid - i missed this one. I got the same nose a Linus does there - im not sure i want to have pain and red marks like that! Will be getting a rift and then hoping to the VR gods that a proper, wireless, super resolution and 100% accurate inside out tracking VR headset is released by 2020!

I'm still baffled as to what people would consider "next gen". Is it 1440p per eye? 4K? Wireless? Better tracking?

Such a thing has never existed in the PC space. It's just a console term used to define the 7+ year refresh cycle. PC updates have always been incremental. I wouldn't consider a 1080 "next gen" over a 980, or a 8700 next gen over a 7700, regardless of the nVidia or Intel marketing bs.

I'm not sure I agree that high end graphics cards are that incremental in development there is usually quite a change in the technology.

But, having said that, the principle in graphics cards of skipping one generation or two before you see a worthwhile improvement may apply equally to VR.

I'd be tempted by the Vive Pro, but not at that price. I'll wait until the 'generation' after I think.

Well, my room is setup 3m*3m space my pc is cleaned out, mods installed for Skyrim VR, tomorrow I will boot up Skyrim play it on my old Vive for an hour then switch to Pro.

Not sure what you are trying to say here. Next gen means different things to different sections of the industry. For example, in the graphic card industry, next gen simply means the next generation of cards. Like when Maxwell was out, Pascal cards were been talked about as next gen.

For VR headsets, I would imagine for most people a true next gen headset would be wireless with fully functional inside out tracking and decent screens.

I don't think a resolution bump is enough in anyone's eyes.

What does everyone think to the sound quality of the pro headset? A lot of people complaining about the lack of bass and tinny sound. As I’m considering getting one myself.

What I'm saying is that I strongly doubt we'll see any consumer headset released with all those features at once. It'll come in incremental dribs and drabs and expensive add-ons.

Same lenses as last.. Poor upgrade effort, just die htc, you won't be missed
Yeah not like the Vive was anything good or a phone company stepped up and gave us an alternative to Oculus facebook Rift.

I have used my Pro for about 8 hours now and would not go back to a Vive 1.0, but I am sure Nightrider1470 you have amassed such a collection of achievements in your life that HTC or any other company pales in comparison.

FOV for me....the 110 FOV is IMHO the real let down.

Did you check whether HTC had charged you for the Vive as if they didnt you would have got two for the price of one ! ;)

Wow the specs don't suggest much of an upgrade in the Pro at all. Definitely sticking with my Vive until a true successor comes out.

Look forward to your thoughts. Vive pro is not for me (I am a rift man myself anyway) but value is a personal thing and don't let anyone tell you what should or shouldn't be good value . £800 for some is paying their rent and putting food on table for others it is a meal out in posh restraunt and some expensive wine. I will be paying probably 600 to 700 quid for an 1180 when it is out and some would say you could buy a PS4, PSN and a big library of games for that price. I really looking forward to trying one tho.
