Hi Guys,

I have been using the xbmc player on the windows for a while now. What I really want to do is to have a small form factor PC. with embedded exp installed. Then have a shell so that when I switch on the computer via remote control it boots directly into xbmc full screen very quickly. Hiding windows in the background. I don't want to see it at all.

I wonder if booting up and shutting down could be made to be as fast as say switching on and off the apple tv?

I read once that some one had media portal running in embedded xp, both off just a 1gb memory stick. I cant see why xbmc would be any difference.

But anyhow you can do all you want in normal xp, hide the logo boot up screen autoload xbmc etc.

huh, I didn't think that's possible.

So I could basically switch on the computer and see just a black screen until it loads xbmc full screen?

How long would the boot up take?

From fully off, probably at least a minute depending on hardware and other services/drivers.
You could speed it up by just using hibernation (unless you need it completely unplugged between uses). I do that on my mini music server and it is booted within 20-30 seconds.
