i can wake up whenever i like

When i was a kid my mum told me to beat my head against the pillow the number of times that corresponded to the hour i wanted to wake up at. e.g. 8 times if i wanted to wake up at 08:00.

It seemed to work actually. But now that I'm older I'm reasonably sure that it is impossible to be aware of the passage of time while asleep. Just my opinion of course. I'm not aware of firm scientific evidence either way.. although I'd like to see some.

body clocks are great, providing they are set right, mine seems to wake me up for 1pm, not good during in the week lol

I wake up without fail at 6.15am every morning even weekends. Can go on a night out and i'll still wake up at that time. It sucks when I stay at a friends house as I still wake up then, and have to wait for everyone else to get up or i'm very bored!!!

exact thing happens to me, they think im a weirdo for being awake so early

there was a discussion about this on the "Jeremy Vine" show on radio 2 some weeks ago, something to do with what time-zone your body is stuck in, some people get it really bad.

if i need to be up at a certain time ill set my alarm clock but i always wake up naturally about 20mins before the alarm goes off.. its been like this for a few years now but i never not set my alarm just incase.. I do this even if im shattered and ill only get 4 hours sleep

odd or what
I do that too, but I normaly just set my alarm for 15 mins later, somtimes I don't even recall doing it!

Try setting the alarm to go off at different times through the week if you can wake up 20 mins before it goes off each day at different times then you are gifted.

i just find it extremely difficult to get up anytime, even if i go to sleep at 7 (tried this 4 nights in a row 2 weeks ago)
i normally sleep in 1-2 days a week and i really dont know why. any ideas as to why and how i can find it easier to wake up? (i tried the whoe drink 5 glasses of water but i wake up about 2am lol)

Same here! I normally just find something to do without waking them as i hate just lying in bed.

I once woke up at the exact same time three days in a row :o

Sometimes my alarm goes off but it fails to wake me up properly, so i turn it off then go back to bed without realising whats going on. Then when i do wake up (late) i usually have no memory of it happening, but i can work out what happened due to the fact that my alarm(s) have been turned off even though i set them.
It can happen even if i set multiple alarms and put them on the other side of my room  anyone got advice?

I do this too, is it not something to do with what your thinking about before you go to sleep. For example if your thinking you must get up at so and so time, yu normaly do.

It's actually quite easy to train your subconscious mind to do this.

Yes, set a 100 watt stereo to go off at full volume, down stairs (on one of those timer plugs) about a minute or two after your normal alarm goes off. You'll remember and be forced to run down stairs to turn it off before it rudely wakes the entire neighbourhood.

If you subconsciously turn your alarm off and roll over, you'll have a nasty shock (and ****** off neighbours) two minutes later. You'll soon learn.
