I've always run my computer in 1024*768 res. For CSS and non-gaming. Basically I wanted a high FPS.

I've never tried it native res until today.

Now im running 1280*1024 and CSS seems much better. Looks amazing.

Well, youve been using the wrong res if your using a tft anyway, 1280x1024 is 5:4 1024x768 is 4:3, thats probably a factor as well as tft's just not scaling nicely.

People at my work use a 17" tft on 1024x768, it just looks wrong. You do realise you could have used your native res and played CSS in a window at a lower res?! That way you dont get the fuzzy look.

lol i cant fit that on my screen......

I play on 1024 @ 85hz on this crt and i tried 1280x1024 and it looks all wrong if you look properly. TFT for the win.

I play maxed out 6xAA 16xAF and get over 100fps, anything over 60 is perfectly fine.
So do I, but his 7600 and only 1gb ram wouldn't be getting 113fps all maxed out.

OP: Up the graphics options, you've got loads of spare frames to play with and you can get some nicer eye candy.

isnt css fairly cpu limited anyway? I'm pretty sure the op would be able to run with at least 2x aa or even more, (my x800gto plays well with it and the 7600gt is a much better card) this would make the image look quite a bit nicer and Im doubtful it would reduce the frame rate much, if at all seeing as he has a good cpu I doubt the graphics card is even being stretched.

Thx for ideas and advice.

When scenes become complicated, with many players and explosions, the frame rate gets hit hard. I want there to be elbow space, especially for 40+ player servers.

At least turn 8xAF on and fix those blurry textures. Should just leave 8xAF forced on for everything through the video card control panel. The framerate hit is pretty small and yet everything looks so much nicer.

In case you don't know what AF fixes, you'll see how the ceiling texture gets more blurry as it gets more distant. 8xAF will make this a lot sharper and nicer.
