I have a Iqon 8050QXX laptop and it seems to have a strange issue with the wireless. (device manger calls it 802.11g MiniPCI Wireless Networks Adapter)

Ok the issue is it won’t see my girlfriends wireless at all. It works and connected to mine, but fails to see her’s at all and the laptop is for her.

I have ruled out the router on the grounds that both her house mates can see and connect. I furthermore can connect with a old dell, my hp and my msi wind + my apple and itouch!

This is is driving me mad. The only thing I can think off is driver issues, as windows found the driver during an update. I have been unable to source any drivers for this laptop. The web is firing blanks or dead leads

Any advise ?

What version of windows - I know some wifi adapters had problems when XP SP3 was installed?

yeah it was xp sp3. i just swapped the wireless card with one from an old dell and that seemed to have resolved the issue. so no real hassle now, but strange

Have a look at the wireless settings on her router, if the channel is set to auto or either 12 or 13 set it to a lower channel.

US kit on supports channels 1-11. There's some kit in the UK that also has this limitation.
