I cant get my 144hz monitor to refresh above 60hz??

I've just checked my monitor settings in windows and my 144hz monitor is running at only 60hz. I've tried changing the setting in windows but keep getting a blacked out screen when I increase the refresh rate above 60hz.

Additionally the AMD Catalyst control center isn't helping either.

I'm stuck and need help please?

What GFX card, what cable are you using, what monitor do you have?

likely to be the cable you are using does not support 1080p/144Hz.
