Me and the girlfriend have recently moved into our new flat. However I am not sure how operate this GRASSLIN SP SBSTU 16 AMP SOCKET BOX 24HR TIMER to heat up the hot water. I have googled yet found no instructions what so ever, so i turned to the good old OCUK and hope to find someone who can help. how do i use it?

Move the little things during the times you want hot water. 1-24, thats your clock.

Youve currently got hot water 7-9.30am and 3-7pm

It works the exact same as the old socket timers before they went digital.

The switch in centre/right - 0 is off all together. 1 is on all the time. The clock is 'timed' which uses the large ring.

If you have the pegs inward that means it's off, so if you push say an hour of them to out that mean it will come on the for that hour.

etc So that's set to come on at just before 07:00 and off at 09:30; then on again at 15:00 to 18:40.

IIRC

Not sure what the grey minute hand/clock does, never seen that before.

Flip the little switch to the middle, thats the timer setting, up is on down is off.

Set the time to the little arrow thing on the right hand side and choose your on/off times by moving the little sliders up or down.

I'm starting to understand it all now. However our water doesn't seem to be warming up at all. The landlord has notified some plumbers which they shall be coming around tomorrow to make sure everything is alright.

Many thanks

It's electric, they do not allow us to use gas in the flat for health and safety reasons. There is a switch directly above it though which i've been told can warm the water up but it costs more expensive if you keep it on. Do you think i need to have this switched on as well as the timer?

That timer is for the immersion if there is no gas, so the yes the switch above it will need to be on for it to work.

I ran my immersion for 2 years (on and off) before i realised the boiler could also heat water, didnt cost much at all

Yeah, by the sound of it, the switch above the timer needs to be on in order for the timer to work and go round by itself. Turn the switch on above, then turn the little switch on the timer to I for an hour and see if you get hot water.

If it's functional then the entire middle of the switch should rotate so the black triangle is pointing at the correct hour of the day.
