Hello people

basically, i cant get passed 3ghz with my overclocks. for reference here is my complete set up and temps:

E6600 - currently at 2.93ghz (325*9)
1gb GEIL ultra pc6400 (not overclocked, and ive set the timings as they should be 4 4 4 12)
P5N-E sli 650i - bios hasnt been changed since stock
x800 pro - not overclocked

arctic cooling 7 pro - temps under load nothing more than 44degrees, so i dont feel that they are an issue.

i also notice that if i put the multiplier up to 10, it resets on startup, i assume this is a problem with the bios.

any ideas?

edit: i even raised the voltage from 1.2 something to 1.35, still doesnt get into windows.

cheers

well it allows you to change it, so i tried to up it to 10, but it makes no difference as soon as you boot, as it goes straight back to 9

I've got pretty much the same setup as you. Got my e6600 to 3.1Ghz and im sure it could go further.

My settings are

CPU Voltage: 1.35
Mem Voltage: 2.1
NB Voltage: 1.5
FSB: Linked, RAM in sync
Memory settings: cas4 , tRCD 4, tRP 4, tRAS 12, Command rate 2T, all other settings on AUTO

Multiplyer is set to 9 which is default. Just up the FSB and see what happens.

yeah thats a point my memory voltage is also set to 2.1v

edit: yeah i seem to be at the max i can do. if i put it up to 1333, it simply doesnt get to windows. quite annoying really as i do a lot of rendering, and i need to sqeeze every ounce of power out of the cpu as possible.

Hi,

Try these settings for an E6600;

In the Advanced Menu go to;

CPU Configuration
Set CPU Internal Thermal Control to [AUTO]
Everything else except Execute Disable Bit should be set to [DISABLED]

Chipset
Leave all the memory timings on AUTO until you have got the CPU overclock sorted out

Spread Spectrum Control
Work your way through the menus and disable everything

SLI Broadcast Aperture
Leave this at Disabled

LDT Frequency
Leave this at 5x

Onboard Devices Configuration
Turn off the JMicron SATA controller - this will fix your cold boot issues ;)

In USB Configuration
USB Legacy Support [DISABLED]

Then back up to JumperFree Configuration

AI Tuning
Set this to [Manual]

System Clocks - PCIe
Leave this at 100 for stability or upto 125 if you like your graphics as fast as possible

Voltage Control
Set the VCore voltage to 1.4
Set the VCore Offset Voltage to +100mV
Set the Memory Voltage to [2.259]
Set the NB Core Voltage to [1.563]

Reboot and re-enter the BIOS

Then go to the CPU and RAM FSB
Select unlinked
Adjust only the CPU at the moment
Start at 1200, then work upwards to 1500 in jumps of 48 FSB Reboot at each stage.

When you reach 1500 do a system stability test with Orthos. At this point you will want to overclock the RAM - come back when you have the CPU stable at 1500 and we can discuss options ;)

are you unlinked or linked? my e6600 got stuck at 2.9ghz unlinked. it would simply not boot at all. i switch to linked mode, 1:1 (sync mode) and my cpu is now happy running orthos stable at 3.8ghz 1:1 and the memory at 422mhz :) vcore is 1.475 and 0.1+ enabled

edit: topgun06 is on the right track but im sure he simply needs more vcore. im running water so please keep an eye on your temps.

yes i got it to 3.15ghz, 100% stable obviously. my temps arent amazing though. around 42 degrees idle, and after about 10-15 minutes rendering (100% on both cores) it approaches 60 degrees, which i dislike.

i am currently on unlinked. i shall change it to linked tonight and see if i can get higher. but i dont want to burn it though.
