your best manually checking the host files etc and I hate to repeat yourself but anywhere you have gone to online with usernames and passwords check and change passwords + if you bank online check your statements etc

I have edited my host file.

Spybot has added a load of addresses.

god where have I been since I found out. hmm.

I suggest you make sure there is nothing extrenuous in the HOSTS file and then make it read only.

And it may not have been anywhere you've been on the net whoch have added the addresses. I would bet there is still some malware on your PC somewhere.

Just give it a while see how it goes, if it goes again just reinstall.

I did that with an error about 2 months ago.

I know someone with exactly the same issue, and his host file is identicle to yours...
How did you manage to delete those paypal addresses from the host file? Apparently Vista will not allow him to edit the host file so he cannot delete those paypal addresses...

How did you do this?

run notepad as administrator.

Thanks, just worked that out. I wonder what on earth is causing the host file to be modifed? It was exactly the same as the OP's hostfile...

nasty bit of spyware/virus...

i'd imagine at some point, that ip address was a site designed to look just like paypal's and people would enter their details on it. then they would have your login details... :eek:
