I have a GA-965G-DS3 motherboard, along with an E6600. Just receiving a Freezer 7 Pro fan this morning, so decided to give overclocking a go. I followed the guide on the DS3 thread, all was going well. But If I try ANY overclock, I think the PC fails to boot, so the motherboard disables the overclock to allow it to start again. I tried 300 (X9 divider) no joy, not even 280. I've tried a few different voltages from 1.45v downwards, but whatever I try, it will not overclock

Anyone help?

have you started at the basics ??? just upping the fsb with no changes to voltages. most core2duos will happily run faster at stock voltage levels.

also does the guide deal with ram timings aswell ?

I think the first problem was, I appeared to have the 965P's BIOS F6, when according to the gigabyte website the 965G's is only up to F5. So loaded that. No idea if I can run the P motherboard's BIOS?!!

Anyway, First problem is, with the memory multiplier at 2x, the RAM is at 600MHZ. Looking on the pics of people's screenshots, it should be at 800MHZ (it's the geIL 6400) does that sound wrong?!

Got it up to 2.7 GHZ (300fsb) once but it wouldn't re-boot again.

965G? is there a such thing?

I thought it was a 965P-S3 or 965P-DS3

Memory Multiplier should be at 3x I think, got mine running at that anyway last time I checked.

Was it an accident that you got the g version? It would seem so since you have a very nice graphics card and thus are not using the integrated graphics.

The reason I've got the G is.. We can't discuss other companies on here, but let's just say one company was selling this board at a very attractive price (70)

I've managed to get the FSB up to 300 at least which is good for 2.7, But Overclocking is fun :p I think I'll sell/RMA the G and buy the P version from OCUK so I can continue.
