i cant see my 5 ghz wireless N ssid name on lap top

hi guys ive got a msi gt680 lap top and recently bought a asus rtn56u dual band router to make the most of my 50mb connection , the thing isi can connect to the 2.4 ghz ssd band no problem ! but i cant even see the 5ghz ssd at all when i search for a wireless lan , i think the intel wifi 1000 bgn adapter is built in to the lap top ! is it a case that this adapter isnt comatible with the 5ghz band and i need a new wireless adapter or am i doing something wrong ......seasons greetings to everyone by the way :D

thanks horrorwood , did you install that bigfoot card yourself or did you get a firm to fit it for you and if you did where ? , other than that its a normal usb adapter job i spose .thanks :D

They are very easy to fit yourself, just two screws on the bottom of my laptop (xps l502x).

Most laptops have the wireless card accessable on the bottom underneath the small panel.
