Hi all,

Recently my firefox has stopped showing what I am downloading in it's download manager, it still downloads things, but I can't see how long it has left, what speed, etc.

I have gone into tools > options > downloads and ticked the box saying "show download manager when a download begins", but it still doesn't show...

Do you think this is a bug? I have closed all AV's and firewalls, etc. It's really annoying and I will need to stop using it if I can't fix it. :(

ctrl + J brings up the download box when in firefox by the way

maybe its been moved to the side of the screen (only just visible?)

i use an extention called download statusbar, which shows downloads in the status bar when the download box is closed

installer is here https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/26/

are you using firefox 2?

I can see the download box by pressing ctrl + J or going to tools > downloads, but it is empty, despite the fact I am downloading things.
I can see the files on my desktop so I know it is downloading, but it isn't showing in the download box...

I have uninstalled the older version and installed v2.0 and it still does it.

I will try the file you suggested and let you know what happeneds.

sounds like your firefox profile is a bit borked, i dont know what to try, some of the other users are kings at firefox repair, so wait for their posts :)

or you could just uninstall firefox and then reinstall it from scratch..it should only take about a minute and will probably save you hours of mincing around?

Skal.

erm that won't help at all. :p

your firefox settings are stored in

\documents and settings\YOU\application data\mozilla\firefox\profiles\RANDOMTEXT.default\

and this is left untouched by the firefox installer/uninstaller. :)

if you have a profile problem, you can delete the whole firefox folder to reset everything. :)

The download statusbar addon does work so thanks for the link :)
I have run firefox in safemode so I guess that it's probably my profile that is messed up - I will try resetting it to default.

Are you sure it's ok to delete to whole firefox folder?!
