Well, i've finally built my new system! Everything is in the case, connected and ready to go.... But..................... The power switch seems to be screwed!!!

Unless something else would cause my system not to start? The fans start spinning when i press the button, then stop almost immediately. Same with the front LED.

Any other ideas?

Please?

Pretty please?? :D

Have you checked that the wires connected to the power switch haven't come loose (solder)? That's what happened with mine.

EDIT: Penski, Zefan's going to be mad with your sig. ;)

What he hell are you asking about computers for? This is a Muslim forum!

*n

oh my.. i cant stop lauging at that

on a more serious note i very much doubt its the power button..

whats the spec of the system? and whats the PSU.. more likely to be fault PSU or shorting

I haven't checked the psu. Power LED is on, on the mobo though, and stays on. Would it do that if the psu was faulty?

Why can't anything ever run smoothly for me? I really shouldn't touch computers at all!!! :D

Sorry to any Muslim's i may have offended by posting in here...... :p I couldn't find a suicide forum, so thought this would be the next best place lol!

Have you actually wired the power button up? My brother spent hours troubleshooting this exact problem only to have a d'oh!! moment when he realised he hadnt wired the power button.

Must've been typing at the same time lol!

Antec Sonata iii case with shipped 500w fan
P5K Dlx
q6600
2gb RAM
8800 gts 320mb

All 9 risers are fitted.

Power button was pre-wired, i just had to connect it to the motherboard (check).

Do you have any idea how long it took my to get it all in there???? lol! I put a Tuniq tower on, and damn that's a tight fit! :D

Is taking the motherboard out the only way to know if it's shorting?

Cheers

In these situations, always best to goto bare minimum.

build outside of your case, connect power cables to motherboard, fit 1 stick of ram and the cpu and try booting.

If it boots, next install gfx card, and boot, etc etc.

As said above take it all out and "start again"

just run the motherboard on top of the motherboard box or something.. and just build it up.. firstly just CPU a motherboard.. make sure you get bios bleeps that correspond to what the manual says (ie lack of ram/gfx) then put ram in.. then put gfx in then assuming its all working carefully just load it all into the case again

good luck

I have a P5B Deluxe, it came with a q-connector

which fits between the mobo and the front panel connectors. I had problems, thought I had wired it up, popped this on and it worked fine!
