this is my 2nd computer i have put together ever, 1st didnt work as i go wrong parts but that was 2 years ago and i didnt know anything then, and this one dosnt work either............its not that i cant do it or i done anything wrong  or is there something simple im missing

thanks

Have you got the little 4 pin plug going into your motherboard from your power supply, it is situated in the top left corner of the motherboard. I've had this problem before, and so had another guy I informed a hour or so ago ;p Fixed his, wondering if I'll be lucky enough to help 2 people with the same problem in one day!

Hope it is this mate, as it's a very simple mistake to make!

8800gt fan runs at 100%
Nothing ever appears on screen?

Got another PCIe card to try boot with? These 8800Gts are little buggers when it comes to mainboard/chipset compabability.

I highly doubt it's a graphical issue unless you don't have the 6 pin in, just go around your motherboard and check that it's all wired up properly and nothing looks missing/out of place.

i have just noticed i have 2 x cpu connectors (4 pin) from my psu, and 2 cpu slots in my motherboard on the top left of my motherboard, they arnt plugged in.....only because they wont reach :S these need to be in ?

Yup if they aren't plugged in it's the exact same problem I had and another guy earlier on, shame your going to need extensions by the sounds of things :(

yay, i plugged one of the cpu 4 pin connecters in and its worked straight away thanks!, now where are these extensions, i had to take my psu out :S

thanks agian guys ;)

good to hear it, i bet your laughing now hehe. Ive never seen the extensions but i did mine by using the same gauge wire, soldering the joints and heat shrinking over. Im a sparkie though so i have the tools

i didnt put both of the pins in is that still ok ? i tried putting both in, but only 1 would, well it works just installing xp

and i slashed my thumb on the metal back plat for the motherboard , wow it went deep :)
cheers

Just out of interest, what PSU do you have, so I know to look out for that issue in the future...

it is the...

OCZ StealthXStream 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2

im so happy now :D never had a computer that can play ANY game in all high graphics, gotta allways be a good feeling, mind you i havnt got it all setup and installed yet :S
