it's a tad too scratched for my liking. It's got some really annoying scratches on the screen that refract the screen and cause these weird multi coloured lines to appear in certain places (if you understand what I mean). It's only on the faceplate however and i'm wondering if there's a way I could fix this

If there is a way to fix this (like getting a new Faceplate, a special cleaner) or something similar then that'd be great.

On the screen, are you sure the actual screen is scratched? It might just be the screen protector which some people put on.

im thinking it's the actual Faceplate that's got the scratches since they're very light scuffs.

Do all replacement faceplates have new screens for them? I looked at some a second ago and the pictures don't look like they have replacement screens.

I got a complete new case for mine in clear acrylic... looks really cool. I can post pics if you wish?

One thing to watch when changing the faceplate is to make sure you are in as dust free an environment as possible, otherwise if dust gets into the gap bewteen the faceplate and the screen you will have a hell of a job getting it out again!!!

my friend says I should use compressed air to blow away any dust? Is this a good idea?

also, which faceplate did you get? one of those cheapo ones at the bay?

pics would be nice thanks

Yeah mine was of the bay, but I have heard there's some crud on there so if I was to do it again i would probably use PSPTree.

that looks very impressive.

Was it easy to do? i've watched videos and they seemed simple enough but im worried ill screw up the buttons or something.

How did you stop dust getting into the screen as well?

yeah, use compressed air to blow the dust out. take care of fingerprints on the inside of the screen too. when using the compressed air, make sure to keep the tin upright, if you tilt it while spraying, liquid will come out, which can leave a water mark on the screen too.

it's a straight forward job to swap the faceplate, you shouldn't have any probs.

the dust is the hardest bit

If they're only light scratches it might be worth trying something such as Displex to polish out the scratches, however if they're quite deep it wont help much, i bought a tube to use on my ipod and it worked a treat, a couple of quid from ebay. (the tube does say for use on phones, mp3 players and PSP).

Brilliant stuff that Displex. Restored one of my phones to like new condition before I sold it on. Takes out all but the real deep scratches, but even those it made a whole lot better.
