Some advice Please?

I had to reinstall Windows 10 on a custom built computer. During the installation, I seemed to have had no choice other than to create a Microsoft Account. So now each time I boot up the computer I'm fronted with a photo of a pile of rocks in USA and a small dialog box where I enter a 4 digit pin code.

Personally I'd rather have it as it was before. A splash screen showing the maker's name, offering BIOS entry, (I still get that with MS) then a blue screen and eventually my desktop. All I had to do was turn the computer on.

Additionally I dislike the fact that when I enter the pin code MS automatically opens MS Edge.

Google suggested that I could log-in with another account: Start/settings/accts/your info/sign in with local account instead. All well and good, however I don't have another account.

I'm concerned that if I do opt for ......local acct instead that when I boot up the computer will ask for other account details which I do NOT have.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks

Go to settings /accounts/sign in with a local account ~back up documents etc with free transwiz first
make another account and use free transwiz software to move the users stuff and settings though takes longer that way than doing auto log in as suggested by chroniclard
As said auto log in may work if only 1 person has access to it ~but then any one else with access to pc can also use it if it auto logs in
And during Windows install local account is still an option though on newer versions of 10 you need to look very carefully they are making it hard to see in the hope people just make a Microsoft account I guess

Thanks, that looks very complicated relative to Chroniclard's solution which I've already implemented. Thanks for your help. I'm the only one who uses this computer. I have a wife but no children and she has a laptop of her own. Thanks again.

Probably made it sound more complicated than it actually is
But main thing is auto log in isn't an issue for you
And of course that you are sorted out

Only problem is you dont want your wife finding your naughty video stash.

'g:\windowsz\backup\media\000556FF22\202100\imports\backup2\cache\' -your grot collection works quite well.

Your choice of file path, of course. Make something up. The more 'Windows' or technical sounding, the better. Then you just have to stop it appearing in the quick access panel...

Not that I have ever done this, you understand.

Windows 10 setup is a real pain for this, if during setup it can reach the internet it will get you to use an online account, if it cannot reach the internet it defaults back to normal local account.

Whenever I am building a Windows 10 machine I leave / skip the network connectivity until the install and initial setup is complete, also means I can log in and remove all the dodgy tiles and programs beforehand, plug the network in / join a wifi and then do the updates.

Bit of pain but works for me :D

This, I never install Windows with the machine connected to the net.

One more thing I've just noticed (I'm packing for two weeks in Marrakech) when the computer went into sleep mode when I pushed any key to wake it up, I had to enter my PIN. Can this activity be removed too?

Thanks

Gotta love that frequent folders feature in Explorer. :p
