I bought one of the value system from OCUK recently and all was fine then the fan started to be noisy. So I tried to take the fan and heat sink off. So tug tug and eventually with some brute force the heat sink came off. But the cpu was still attached. So what do you think they have used as the thermal compound. Yes you have guessed it arctic silver epoxy. Now what can I do. Also on the same day I find that the sony bluray player does not work and this is the second drive that has not worked. Oh what a bad day I am having. Any way if any one knows how to get the chip off the heat sink I would be really pleased to know Thanks

If it is AS epoxy it isn't coming off any time soon. It's an epoxy resin (like Araldite).
I don't think low heat will break it down, a couple hundred degrees maybe...
Levering it off is BAD, might crack the chip.
Trying to think of good news... Um. Nope, can't think of any. Maybe RMA?

Lol, a rig like that coming from an overclocking suppliers? ooops!
I'd rma it, sounds like you had a friday rig if the blu-ray was duff too.
