Monitor is iiyama G-Master GB2470HSU-B1 24, was playing cod last night, when screen went funny, on further inspection the screen had cracked in bottom left corner, the monitor is about 10 months old and as never suffered any impact to the screen, when the monitor is turned on after being disconected form pc the image is still there, can anyone explain why it would just break

Mass produced items come with faults, that's about the most simple explanation. Sadly the monitor world doesn't really do premium quality, just premium features and price tags.

Send it back on warranty, next one could be fine for a long time, or be another dud.

No toy guns in my arsenal, having sent pictures to iiyama repair, they agreed to send me a replacement, it turned out they did'nt have one, so they were going to repair mine. It was sent back yesterday.
Had to ring them today to discuss my repair, they are now saying it is user caused so not covered under warranty, I stand by what I originally said about what happened, the person I spoke to basically called me a liar, I will never by a iiyama monitor again

Unfortunately I purchased from elsewhere.
I personally belive something failed inside the monitor and caused the screen damage, nothing could have burnt it from the outside, I've never seen a screen fail and the image permanantly shows on the screen, it's a new one to me.
