I don't quite understand Zowie?

From the very bottom of my palm (where it meets the wrist), to the very top of my middle finger, with a completely flat (non-arched) hand, it measures 7".

Now recently I've been looking for a new mouse. I'm currently using a Sharkoon Fireglider Black (Rush) with an Avago-ADNS-A6010. It's a great laser, LoD is tiny, I don't see any angle snapping or prediction and the build quality of the mouse itself is pretty sweet.

This is a fairly big mouse... just a smidge under 5" when measured from front to back (not taking into account angles, this is just a straight measurement from the bottom).

Now I've worked out that the Zowie EC1 eVo and EC2 eVo might be the ideal choice for me. Simple, 5 buttons, good sensor, no flashy stuff. However I'm a bit confused by how they came to measure the width of the mouse as 43mm. That'd be the skinniest mouse on the planet. My Fireglider Black, at the mid point (which is the thinnest) is roughly 60mm.

Also, if I do unravel this mystery, as a palm gripper with medium-small hands (again, mid finger tip to base of palm is 7"), I play mostly shooters but some action/RPG and mobas. What would be the better choice? The eVo EC1 or EC2. According to the website, the EC2 is the smaller one.

That width though... I'm don't understand...

Decided on the EC1 eVo but it's out of stock everywhere or, if it is in stock, it is massively overpriced.

Edit: Ordered Zowie EC1 eVo from Overclockers :), it's out of stock but I got tired of comparing mice all day long. This'll be the 2nd attempt at the Avago 3090, it was horrid in Kone Pure Optical.
