I was reading the news about Andy Whitfield and how the rate of non-hodgkins lymphoma has double since the 70s.

You know what I suspect is the cause? Deodorant and anti-persperant. Think about it, you are rubbing all kinds of chemicals right in to your lymph nodes in your arm pit. If you use anti-persperant you are literally clogging it up with chemicals.

Call me a hippy if you like but that's why I've never used anti-persperant, only the most basic deodorant, and only when I have to like if I'm going to the gym or something. If I'm going to be sitting around the house all day or not close to other people I don't use it. Sweating is HEALTHY.

Hippie.

You can always stop using deodorant and simply be stinky instead.

The term hippie is very appropriate actually, I've have this argument before with a heavy weed smoking hippie who did nothing but complain about toxins in Deodorants and Toothpastes .....

Eh? I thought latest thinking that nhl was caused by a virus!

And my father who is 68, i.e the older generation never really used any deodorant, he just had regular showers etc, has nhl

wikipedia says there are 16 different types of NHL maybe they are not all caused by the same thing...

also a sample of 1 person proves nothing... (though I'd also say the OP has no proof either jsut a random stab in the dark)

From what i've read, cancer is caused by an abnormal growth in cells that failed to die off which makes more sense that it's caused by ourselves [products, produce etc] due to what we put into and onto our bodies, not to mention other environmental factors that can contribute to abnormal cell growth.

I still mantain that everything in moderation is the key, that if you look after your body, your body will love you for it.

I read an article as well about the aluminium in deodrant. I think it was saying there has been an increase in breast cancer cases where the lump is found in the armpit region.

I do believe I read that on the Daily Mail website though. The next day they were probably saying that if you don't use deodrant, you'll die a slow and painful death at the hands of gay immigrants.

They do sell deodrants without aluminium though if you are concerned, and I assume have deodrants with only natural ingredients in them. There probably isn't a need to boycott them completely, but if you're not a total sweaty betty you'll probably get away with none the majority of the time. Just give your pits an extra good scrub in the shower :)

Though then you have to think about the chemicals and parabens in some shower gels  Again there are other natural alternatives, but surprise surprise they tend to be a bit more expensive.

I wouldn't worry too much, we're exposed to a lot of crap these days!

Just to point out "natural" means nothing legally you can put it on anything you like, it also doesn't mean safe.

One of my best mates stopped using deodorant about 15 years ago, instead opting for some sort of deodorant stone that you rub in your pits. Needless to say he is a sweaty mofo and can get a bit ripe towards the latter part of an evening in a club.

I'm very much liking Dove for men at the mo.

Deodourant doesn't have aluminium in it, it has alcohol and perfume and it stops the sweat smelling bad (by inhibiting bacteria growth).

Anti-persperant has Aluminium Chloride and stops you sweating (mostly). Often also has alcohol and perfume.
