I dont understand!!!!

Hey guys. after seeing the ocuk thread with pics of there builds i decided to sort out the cables in mine. took be a while and still dont look great damn antec 900's :(

Anyway plug it all back in - one of the 250gb hdd as i have no use for it however when i booted system it says boot failure insert system disc. checked my raptor was first boot disc as this has the os on it. boot failure again. then made the 250gb drive primary boot disc bearing in mind it has no os installed just data voila it works. i just dont get why? anyone have a clue?
 
just music pics vids that sort of stuff:P just noticed this file though : BOOTSECT.BAK whats that? i just dont get why it wont boot off the raptor when i have os installed on there
 
Did you remove cables from the hard drives or mobo, just that you may have mixed them round and the mobo might be trying to boot a different (non OS) drive.

In other words, have you changed boot order, or change to try other boot options in bios etc..
 
You had the 250 set as boot/Primary/Active drive when you installed the OS on the raptor? Some essential boot files remain on the old disk when you do that. I had that trouble some time ago (with WinXP), mucked about with boot.ini but in the end just reinstalled on the new boot drive with the other disconnected. There was nothing I wanted to keep and it was quicker. Well that's what it sounds like to me.
 
i think u nailed it there chris. pretty sure the raptor was drive 2 in the vista install thingy so that would explain that.
