I've looked at the reasons to move to the 360 and right now my PC is broken and I'm looking at £750 to bring it up to current game standards anyway so right now I am pretty much sold on a 360.

My one concern is controls. I've been using a mouse and kbd for so long now that I think I would find it hard to play FPS with a joy pad, how the hell do you get the same kind of acuracy?

Convince me that Oblivion will look better on a 360 than on my 3Ghz/1Gz/ 9800Pro and I'll run out and buy one, as long as I can move mmy characters around properly :D

Your 9800pro wouldn't get close to the processing power of the Xbox360 (I know my 6800 Ultra and my mades 7800GTX don't.

It's cheap, it's got the best controller ever and it's wireless. It also has Xbox Live! which leaves PC online standing.

I used to play CS semi-professionally against top clans all over Europe and now I haven't touched PC gaming since December 1st 2005.

I couldn't recommend the Xbox360 enough!

Get Oblivion, Burnout Revenge, Call of Duty2, PGR3 and Ghost Recon for some top class gaming. I would even recommend Tomb Raider, however, it's a little short.

It's quite simple, practice.

Once you've played a FPS using a pad for a while it becomes very easy. The 360 FPS games (bar PDZ and Farcry) all feel very natural if you ask me, and are designed with the pad in mind.

Some people will try to convince you that using a pad to play a FPS is the work of the devil, which is just rubbish if you ask me.

You don't :) I hate playing FPS games on a gamepad personally. Others will tell you that it's fine. The only way to find out is to try it yourself really.

Don't suppose theres a chance that they'll sell a mouse and keypad as an add on is there?

Right now, I'll be splashing out £300 to play Oblivion and thats about it, I don't want to waste my money because I find it unplayable :/

Buy one, if you hate it then take it back, demand a refund and tell them it keeps crashing.

I have been converted to console by this machine despite mine dying on me and years of everquest, quake, doom, unreal and so on.
If anything the console is a great leveller, puts you on a more even pitch with other players and the games aren't full of cheats, aimbots and edited files to give you unfair advantages.

My brother was pretty sure he did not want one as he had an original xbox gathering dust. He stayed with me for a weekend, hammered the 360 and bought one on the way home. Do it. You'll be glad that you did.

Oblivion is mega playable.

Another brother story :

He came down for easter and made an oblivion character. He went to sleep at 5am because he locked himself out of my house when he went outside for a smoke. I woke him around 9am.
He played (we played taking turns at bits of it) till about 1.30am the next day, he carried on till gone 3am.
We got back into it around 6 hours later and he played till nearly 2am this morning before realising the time, driving back home (90 minutes) and having to get back up for work today. He said "bit addictive this Oblivion game, think I'll have to get it).
We put in over 24 hours play and gained 7 levels in 2.5 days. The wife doesn't look amused.
Oblivion is great on the 360.

There must be some way you could try one out first?

Try popping into a local game shop and see if they have it set up with oblivion. My local one now has fight night 3 on their demo unit....played it the other day and found one thing thats lacking in my xbox360 setup is....the hd lcd tv...so last thursday i ordered a samsung 32" LCD which HD ready...set me back about £800 though.

Oblivion's not really a massive amount of skill required for combat, you need to be able to point your crosshair roughly at the enemy and swing, if you've got a sword, but a bit more accuracy with a bow.

On your original question about getting the same kind of accuracy, I personally have found console FPS games to be a lot easier/simpler in general compared to the PC, hitboxes and general pixel accuracy that you need in some PC fps games is a lot more shoot in the general direction, but there are a few games that need you to be super accurate still.

I would consider getting an xbox 360 anyway, but if youve got a HDTV laying about without an xbox 360 hooked up to it.. its virtually sacrilege.

I have a 720p projector without one, ahhhhh that sounds bad doesn't it? :/

I started playing Perfect Dark Zero when I got my 360 and was about an inch away from throwing it out the window as it was so slow. Changed the look sensitivity though and it's allll good :D

I used to be so against using a pad for fps but figured I'd better get used to because most games coming out on the 360 seem to be fps'.
Took a few hours to get used to it, thats it.

:D

Plug a keyboard/mouse into that thing and it converts the mouse signal so the xbox thinks it's getting a joystick signal, same for keyboard, no text input, just the keys used as buttons.

HAX

There is honestly no need for KB/mouse, sure it takes a bit of practice and some getting used to, then there is the frustration of knowing that if your trusty kb/mouse were connected you would have headshot that SOB that killed you.

After completeing a FPS game (not PDZ) in single player you will feel compfortable with the controls. and with a bit of online practice you will wonder why you were so anti controler in the first place.
