Hello,

Built a fairly decent machine a while back but feel like it can
be better without costing much, budget isnt really an issue i dont need much.

current build:

Coolermaster HAF 922
G.SKILL RIPJAW 4GB (2X2GB) DDR3
AMD PHENOM II QUAD CORE 965 AM3
CAVIAR BLACK 1TB 64MB 7200 SATA 6Gb
XFX HD6970 2GB GDDR5
ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 MOBO
novtech (own brand) 750W PSU
LG GH24NS90 24x DVD±RW SATA 6Gb

I really want more/better RAM and a SSD but also cant decide if i want a new mobo.

I like my mobo it looks great but because of the layout of the board and the size of the 6970 it
blocks a pci slot that i wanted to use for a sound card that may or may not be better than the
onboard sound (i dont have it with me to check nor remember what it was) is that reason enough to go
through all the hassle of changing the mobo? will a new mobo be that much better for me?

mainly used for gaming and photo/video editing

what and how much ram is necessary? and what to look for in ssd?

is there anything else to consider?

Thanks

8GB RAM is enough for gaming but depends on how heavy you do photo/video editing, how much SSD storage you likely to use 64GB or 128GB?

i wouldn't class it heavy at all, it's mainly stuff for family/friends.
i guess just getting 2 more sticks of what i got will do then.

and just a 64gb to cater for windows really.

thanks
