I got my Hoya Infrared filter today so i tried some IR shots. When i looked at them I notice at the same spot on every frame there is a red dot. Then i remember looking at POTN forum something about sensor cleaning that could fix it.

Yeah... I've done it on my 30D... leave the lens on with cap, and put the sensor clean on for >30secs.

It's to do with the camera resetting the pixels on the sensor at the cleaning cycle, I just tried it and it worked !!! Now the sensor is pixel perfect (touch wood it stays that way). :)

Not sure how that would "fix" the pixel? Unless the 30D has dead / stuck pixel mapping?

On the 350D. if you leave the sensor cap on and select sensor clean and lock the mirror up, it maps any stuck pixels so when you next use the camera, no more hot pixels show up. You only need to keep the mirror locked up like this for a few seconds.

anyone know if this works for the 10D?
Minoltas also have a pixel remap so I guess that it's a fairly common feature & hopefully the 10D has something similar.
