I gave up waiting for dx11

...and bought a 2GB 4890

The main factor behind it was that all the games I play now are still dx9 and I keep spending on average £400 a month on stuff so I'll sort that out when it comes around.

My question is would I notice any disadvantages with crossfiring this card with a 4850 1GB GDDR3?

before I have two identical cards working together. These should work but obviously they'll be working at different speeds. Will the 50 slow down the 90?

well your 4890 would become 1gb for starters

and because the 4890 is ddr5 and 4850 is ddr3. the faster card will need to wait for the slower card so sometimes you'll see a drop.

And the bandwidth of the GDDR5 would be wasted.

A big disadvantage, your 4890 would run as a 4850.

id try and sell your 4850 and buy a another 4890 when the 5xxx's are released as the 4xxx's might have a price drop.
