i get middle finger when overtaking?

I was giving it the beans with you gradually closing up the hill till I realised I had no idea what was over the crest by way of corners.

I don't look at people I'm overtaking as I'm concentrating on the other vehicles in case one gets silly. I've been flashed and honked at after overtaking on a single carriageway and had one motorcyclist call me an idiot at traffic lights just after I overtook him

And I'm way over 50 so less of the ageism about slow older drivers.

Andi.

I can't say I've ever seen that. Are you flashing your parts at them as you pass or something?

Some birk in a Rover waggled his finger at me for pulling out in front of him onto the M6 the other day, he'd done a fantastic job of matching my speed when I was trying to join with 2 empty lanes to his right. It was cut him up or almost stop, I chose the confrontational option.
He has right of way.
You should have let off the throttle and joined behind him.

Perhaps he sped up so you'd join behind him rather than in front.
Or perhaps he was just being a tool. Either way, what you did was a bit silly really.

I've been flashed before (by the car I'm passing) when overtaking on some Welsh roads, I think my exhaust when pushing on gets a bit too much attention of the wrong kind - for best overtaking I really do need to be caning it as well (4k rpm+) so its really quite loud!

I'm fully aware of all of this, but I immensely enjoyed it. I think he was just completely oblivious. It's a miracle he was even in lane 1.

So you cut him up on purpose even though he did nothing wrong? Nice.

I've been in the same situation many times, but I just sigh, tut, slow down and pull in behind them and overtake.

I think you do have to be doing something to annoy people.

A range rover pulled out on me the other day and I had to do an emergency stop. I was already in a foul mood so shortly later overtook them and put my finger up. Completely immature, pathetic and over the top but felt good at the time. I tend to get annoyed when people pull out on you when they could just wait for you to go by (especially if they then drive below the speed limit) but making me have to do an emergency stop is a step too far.
