What was you previous setup? As it may now be making a noise as it is under more load. I had it with my Gigabyte MB turning off speedstep has got rid of the noise.

What PSU is it?

old setup was:
core2quad Q6600
Gigabyte EP45DS3R
8GB Kingston Hyper-X
Sapphire Rdeon 4890 Vapour-x

thing is, this new setup has a few less CCFL tubes and two less hard drives, and 2gb less ram, kinda thought that'd balance it a bit.

it's a coolermaster iGreenpower 600 Watt, should be about 50 watts more than enough, as it even has two 6pin pci-e connectors built in, so it's basically asking for both of them to be used...

i haven't overclocked anything, all i did in the bios was disable expressgate.

specs in sig.

off, but this isn't while playing games, this is while browsing the web or editing images or something, it happens when the cursor passes over certain colours.

My mates pc creates a quiet, high pitched noise by mouse movement as well. What psu have you got? Edit: sorry didn't see one of your posts.

But yeh I'd say it was interference with the mobo or psu. I shouldn't worry about it, but I know things like this are very annoying.

it hardly annoys me, i only notice it if there's no other sound, i just don't want my shiny new build to become a bedroom bonfire, weren't cheap lol

so it's definately the motherboard, right down there next to the cpu socket, varies in pitch & intensity, it's loudest when i'm playing a STALKER game (tested shadow of chernobyl and clear sky, i imagine call of pripyat will be the same)..

tried disabling speedstep, any ideas?

I take it your CPU is at stock? I get the same problem if mine is, its the CPU power states. If the CPU its at stock volts the the voltage with vary depending on load and its this that creates the squealing noise when you move your mouse.

To stop it on mine I just increased the CPU vcore to the next highest value. Diabling one of the power saving features probably stops it but I don't know which one does what.

so, i tried the voltage thing, still squeaky...

...but turning off C1E appears to have done the trick, not sure though as i didn't exactly have 'quiet time' to do it.

wish me luck!
