I got my final annual mortgage statement and I'm like this...

Congratulations its such a nice feeling paying off your last payment on your mortgage and being completely debt free. Cleared ours about 4 years ago

Our mortgages are one of the few debts that don't bother me, although it would be nice not to have them, they've enabled a more comfortable life.

That said enjoy your extra disposable income @Angilion - what's your first shopping spree going to be?

Congrats. About 15 years left on ours. But we plan to downsize in a few years which should clear most of it.

Nice one!

Paid off 20K of mine last month. Still get about 22K left. Will clear that in 2 years and I be mortgage free at 40 years old. Which was always my goal when I got my house when I was 27.

Nice!

We're increasing our overpayments next year so we'll be mortgage free by 50. Hate having debts.

I'm no finance expert, but I was always led to believe that overpaying is largely a waste of time depending on the interest rates, and you'd be better off investing the overpayment amount? that said I'm no expert! (I'm not suggesting you're wrong! It's more of an open question - please don't take it as a dissection of your post :)),.

Regardless, that's a fantastic target and fingers crossed you're able to achieve it! Good luck :)
