Okay, bit of background so far.

I left school after getting three D's at my A levels to work in a convenience store full time so I could move out. It was late nights 3pm-11pm and I had to actually negotiate with my boss to get Saturday night off as I worked through Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday Monday.

Anyway.

Fast forward 3 years.

Sunday I got an email from a new employer as a Parts Advisor. 8am-5pm, £7.50 an hour (up from £7.20 at my old job) Monday-Friday. Saturdays double pay.

Really excited that I got this as the lifestyle is so much better and after so many rejected CVs I finally had an employer who wants me to work for them as in the 2nd interview the boss of the place seemed genuinely excited with my enthusiasm!

70% of it is computer-based and answering calls and 30% is showroom-based.

Just wanted to shout at how pleased I am I finally have broken out of the evil world of retail, looking forward to dealing with business clients instead of the public. :D:D:D:D:D

Great end to the week. :D

Congratulations! :D I should think there'll be more opportunities to work your way up the ladder at your new place also! With your attitude, you could climb higher and higher :D Good luck!

Hi everyone.

I started my job monday, you may have seen the GD thread of the passing of my stepmum last friday.

Anyway my dad thought it'd be a good way of keeping me busy and to be honest it's incredibly busy! I'm starting to understand how to check parts out, pack orders for shipping, and I've been given the job of producing a 5 page price quote for a major public sector contractor (can't say the name) as they need to fix a lot of equipment.

Was fairly surprised that the manager gave me that job so quickly but the word around the warehouse is that he is astonished at the speed at which I've picked the job up.

It's keeping me busy as it's a lot better than my old job and I work 9 hours a day instead of 8 and get an hour's overtime at time and a half.
