ok I parked my car last night at a day time taxi rank - this is a spot where taxi's park during the day to get customers but dont park there in the night cos the shops are closed. Its been like that since eternity and everyone used to park there.

anyway I hadnt parked there in a while so thought I should for last nights date, so I parked there - was in the car for 30 minutes cos I came straight from work and was 30 mins early, I parked at the very edge of the street as it was closer.

anyway leave my car - go on the date (was fine) - offer her a lift home and get back to my car AND ITS GONE!

I honestly **** the biggest brick of all big bricks that had ever been ****. Initial reaction - stolen! which would have been nice cos I could have just had it written off and had the money back but NO. My date suggests to ask a taxi man if they towed here (as there was no other cars parked there at 1am and he said "yes - there's a sign 200 yards down the road with a number on it to ring"

200 yards down the road? why not have one either side of the street - and even then the sign was bloody tiny - From where I was parked all I could see was a post sticking up - no sign or anything and it didnt even occur to me that after all these years a day time parking bay for taxi's would turn into a towing area in the night!? wtf is that about!? so I phoned the number and (un)luckily they had towed my car and it was going to cost me £105 to get it back :( so I gotta go and collect it now at 12.

This means I doubtfully will be able to get my graphics card and new PSU. And I was hoping to get a new hard drive too but thats all out the window :( I would have settled for a ticket or understood if I was causing an obstruction but it was a bloody (is this swearing?) parking bay!?

no it was a taxi rank, not a car park. You took the lazy option and now you have to pay for it.

You live and you learn... I think you will just have to chalk this one up to having parked in an area specifically reserved for a certain type of vehicle... regardless of whether there are any there or not.

Sounds like a loophole that people have been taking advantage of because there was a lack of enforcement, you took the risk and suffered for it.

My local town centre has no parking officers on Sundays so cars park all over the place and cause havok, they should have no complaints if the council change their mind and give out mass tickets one Sunday.

Sounds like you knew it wasn't a legal parking space to me.

towned = towed + owned :p

I didnt say it was a car park I said it was a bay, which means a curve in the road for taxi's to park while they wait for customers.

it doesnt cost 105 but it has taken a huge chunk out of my wage and now if I got the lot I wouldnt survive the month :p

Harsh Dude, Just like some of the comments you're getting & will get from here.
I feel your Pain & the loss of your Hundred quid/GFX card PSU.
The real important question though is was she Fit & did you get some ?

Question: What did your date think of you getting your car towed and having to get the bus/taxi home?

Owned! :D

In future don't park where you are not supposed to, OK?

She was fit - couldnt get some as had no car but that depends on what "got" means. if it means a **** no cos I had no car (lol) and town was too busy, everything else is a heads up though.

How the hell did you need a car to get a shag? Put the pity face on, flag down and taxi to her place and nail her all night long. Reclaim car in the morning, repeat. Minus losing the car that is! ;)

Towned mate - "towned"

well now I know lol :p kinda felt sorry for the towing guy, I phoned them up as I could pay the fine there and then but he sounded really upset and said he couldnt deal with anyone cos he couldnt cope, thought he was going to cry on the phone so I said no problem I can collect it tomorrow

You should have asked him if he was ok, been a 'mate' to talk to for 5 mins. May of resulted in you getting your car back cheaper :D

I dont believe it, I just paid the £105 to get the car now, just got back with it, but upon getting to the car there is a parking fine on the car!!!??? wtf!? few notes to bare in mind:

wasnt causing obstruction
was no double/single yellow lines on the road
1 small sign to cover the whole street
its been done for years

I can accept the £105 charge but a £30 parking ticket???? I mean thats just taking the mickey now.

I can barely even read the writing "1470 obstructing a taxi rank" WTF THE TAXI'S DONT PARK THERE AT 8PM! there was no taxi's to be obstructing, infact they had moved to the next street! the street they was using wasn't even 10 metres away!! I cant believe it thats a joke

You can appeal the fine if you provide evidence that the sign was small and far away. If it was actually 200 yards and tiny you could have a good chance. If you've payed it might be a bit late now though...
