What a weird sighting I had but I'm 100% positive there is an explanation.

At around 9:20pm we came out of our road, turned right and immediately my wife said 'Look at those stars, how weird'.
We stopped at position 1 and looked across the houses and in front of us were about 25 purpley stars going from the top of the sky to behind the houses.
I said that they weren't stars because there was nothing else in the sky anywhere and they were a funny colour.
I then thought they were moving.
We drove on to position 2 where I could definitely see movement.
We drove down to the Britannia Stadium and parked up at position 3 where all but 4 of them had disappeared and then slowly they went from right to left until all had gone.
We made our way back to Hanley where I couldn't see any remains of my moving purply stars.

I think they were perhaps planes returning from a display somewhere so perhaps somebody knows of anything that happened today.

Abingdon Air & Country Show

Dunno how likely a 'solution' that is though.

edit- not likely at all actually, i was getting confused with a vb calender displaying upcoming events instead of stuff that happened today.

Me and 4 friends saw a very fast moving object in the night sky about 3 weeks ago not far from Stoke. Whereas planes have 3 lights underneath them IIRC, this only had two and one wasnt very light. It flashed every 20-30 seconds which seemed too long for normal aircraft. It was also silent, leaving no gas trace behind it (don't know what they are called) and moved across the sky very quickly.

We still don't know what it was, we thought it may have been a military jet, but it was too silent, too high by the looks of it and left no trace

Look into this light:

There was no UFO
The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a U.F.O.

Swamp gas from a weather balloon
was trapped in a thermal pocket and refracted the light from Venus. :p

could that have been the space station maybe or even that un-maned ATV they sent up to dock with it?

When I was in position 1 the scene looked something like this :

We stayed there for about a minute and originally my wife thought they were stars - no way.
A firework? - no.
My wife thought it could be a big crane with lights on it - no because they were moving.
I couldn't tell if they were alien craft because I don't know if they were saucer shaped and tilted at an angle which is how they fly.
Its obvious from going to position 3 that just like stars there were distances between them so I still think they were a load of aircraft returning from somewhere.
Surely someone knows?

lol.

You sure it wasn't someone having a party in their back garden and they had one of those laser displays which makes funny patterns in the sky, theres a guy down the road who has one all the time and it does generate some weird stuff.
