I hate Call of Duty 4

Actually what i feel like when i play COD4 on the 360, is quite similar to wearing the freezer jacket in work and puttin the hood up on it
I feel i can't turn fast enough with the pad! I feel like route 1 is the only option when playing with pad.
I feel so dam fenced in with the thing!

Thats the kind of feeling i have so restricted compared to a board & mouse.
and very slow.

It's been said on here by a few members a few times. Playing games and having to track enemies movements with the gun, zoomed in, predicting the movement, squeezing the trigger slowly making sure you get the headshot.

For me, much more rewarding than running into a room and picking people off in a split second with crackshot aim. I feel more included in a game with a controller.

I don't see it. I understand what you mean. But the only reason a pad is more "rewarding" is because it's harder to use. Not hard as in awkward and any less good, Just not as immediate in response.

With the mouse and keyboard it's quicker, and easier. But not in the sense it's an unfair advantage. I just think it's a closer extension of your body.

FPS games (SP) are way too easy with a keyboard/mouse, makes single player campaigns pointless imo. If you want to play competitively though you'll need a keyboard/mouse setup. I reckon at some point consoles will get the option of a plug in keyboard/mouse. Although that would remove the even ground you have between players on consoles, something you never get on a PC game.

At the end of the day argue all you want, people get used to things over time. Personally couldn't imagine using a keyboard/mouse now. 3 or 4 years ago i couldn't have imagined using a controller. :)

Why we are having a discussion about this in the console forum is totally beyond me.

I use both methods often and dont find one or the other better or much different, most console games are made to work with the pad and work perfectly fine, and I do agree there is something a bit more satisfying about pulling the triggers on the pad to shoot and getting some rumble, just adds a little to the game for me, not that it makes playing with a mouse and clicking to shoot that much poorer but can agree with what Nokkon is saying. A group of us play on 360 and PC, and the best players are still best on either format, so to me there is not much skill difference in the methods of control, its still all about the user.

I just want to point out again the idea of this thread was for me to moan about the scripted SP campaign in COD4. Not a PC vs Console debate (although I do think I would be able to complete the game on the PC due to the controls :p)

Anyway, now I have calm down, I am DETERMINED to beat this mofo of a game. I am not sure when, or how, but I will do it. I will then take the disc and box outside and smash it with a hammer.

I'm a complete spaz when it comes to this type of game - REALLY hopeless - but even I decided to just go for it on Veteran and I did it. The only achievement I don't have is Mile High Club, and the only part of the game that gave me serious 'give up feelings' was that bit at the ferris wheel. I enjoyed everything else. So if I can do it anyone can :D

I didnt like the controller for shooters when i had the original xbox being used to pc gaming but got used to it , i have played COD4 on 360 & ps3 and find the controllers for both good .

This probably isn't a great example, and the theory full of holes, but I'll just type and see what comes out :D

For me, it's because I know that the other players have the exact same controller as I do - so if I beat someone in a fair fight, I get a better sense that it was down to my skill.

With a mouse and k/b there a so many combinations - mice that can read the smallest DPI, weighted mice, movement speeds with god know how many Gs acceleration, hardware smoothing... the list is massive.

The players own ability (probably not the best word) with using a mouse will also factor quite heavily here too - personally I am quite fast with a mouse in Windows and that easily transmits into my gaming; or did when I used to PC game. Another advantage one may hold over other players - not sure if I would call this skill though, maybe experience.

Keyboards aren't so much a factor here, but having all those buttons in fingers reach will surely make weapon switching easier etc; resulting in a possible advantage.

This is how I would define the term "rewarding" with regards to use of joypads on FPS games.

Anyway, sorry to OT, and please don't think I am some PS3/360 fanboy, I still have a place in my heart for PC gaming; just too lazy to do it now :p

Scort.

If your really struggling have a look at some of the video walkthroughs for COD4 on nextgenwalkthroughs.com.
