and this is why:

go go China. Cannot begin to believe how they got the Olympics and how anyone is actually willing to go. Apart from our celebrity aristocrats who ran (literally) onto the gravy train and their title.

This kind of thing is a disgrace that a country can get away with doing that. Did you read the 'are you still proud' thread? People whining about Britain. In Communist China you'd be locked up for libel and subversion.

i've nothing more to add as it makes me furious.

What do you all have to say?

What about the cultural revolution.

LOL. What an ironic term that is:

'Lets destroy and pillage every national monument, palace or historical builing or site in the name of Communism and new Culture!' Huzzah. Was great looking at empty fields or just bits of rubble when I was in their 'country'

If they voice their concern then China will ignore them. Or do something stupid.
(we call them hippies, Burnsy ;) )

I can't believe people don't boycot China altogether. Perhaps that's because they are everywhere and have flooded Europe.
These people are no better than animals, and I can't believe people on these forums dont have more to say about it. Might as well be born in a prison than in China.

Penski would be in jail for graffiti, for example. I too would be in a Gulag for talking about rights and highlighting how awful that country is.

Why is it that in that case, that China refers to itself as being Communist if it isn't?
This is a thread about freedom of speech, but an opportunity for those who know about it (wiki does not count) to share knowledge and to clear up misconceptions.

platypus, it's because I fundamentally disagree with it: it is so idealistic in principle that it can never work, such is the mantra of ambition and greed which man has.

@platypus,

The main point was the way that China gets away with the blatant disregard and suppression of human rights, which in many countries have constitutions citing these fundamental rights. China also happens to call itself communist so...

@LordS

Catocracy. Interesting concept :p What breed is ceiling cat btw and it has no age im guessing. Does he/she agree with the concept that:

'Freedom of Speech is a fundamental and inviolable right of Man?'

Or 'Holiday in Cambodia' :D

"Pol Pot Pol Pot" great chorus that. Its on Guitar Hero too btw! Kyber Rouge was... :(
