I hate insurance claims

I just think it's a bit ridiculous he claims because a glass of water was spilt over a PC, surely you keep water a far distance from computers or any electrical item, so it's basically claiming for stupidity or lack of care.

Sure, if an electrical appliance blows up by itself or overheats which your not responsible for then fine, claim, but this could have easily been prevented.
It isn't ridiculous. In fact, assuming he has the appropriate accidental coverage, it's expected.

Quite a few 'accidents' can be attributed to stupidity... so therefore it is in essence a stupidity insurance. One that is quite useful at that!

thats what the warranty is for stu...

Your fundermental mistake was start talking about seperate components to some dim-witted non-caring phone guy at the insurance company.

Should have just said 'you need a new PC - the cost will be £2150. Heres a link to the exact one I need as a replacement'

Unless of course you did it on purpose to claim for a new laptop/PC.

Exactly this is one of the problems.

I get the point of insurance, I'm just saying it's stupid you can just be a clumsy idiot yet still get the thing you broke paid for just like that. I don't own my own house but if I did I would like to know if you can take out a policy that covers you for accidents that weren't your fault, like a natural disaster, but doesn't cover you for your own faults? Is there such a thing?

If not, then I feel sorry for the ones that don't claim and have idiots claiming for breaking their own things all the time.

Why didn't you make your daughter pay for the parts since she spilt the vase over them? I'm sure it's an accident which could have easily been prevented. Oh wait we live in a country where nobody takes responsability for anything.

Fair enough if it was a burgler, but come on..

No point in getting cover for accidental damage then . if it was a robbery would that mean the theif would have to damage stuff by accident so you could claim.

What bliss your world would be

That's why accidental damage is usually an extra - with an extra premium.

For instance, we don't have accidental contents cover (but we do have accidental buildings cover e.g. windows).

Surely if NO LIE you felt dizzy for 3 seconds, fell over and nutted the plasma tv and now it's dead - this isn't actually your fault? So it becomes unenforceable as no-one will ever admit to just being a clumsy donkey if there's £800 riding on it .. everyone will just get the 'nothings ever gonna be 'proveable' my fault' insurance ...?

That's an exceptional circumstance. I agree they should get the damages money. But it's the ****** that lie about that sort of thing that annoys me, and sadly they get away with it.

But anyway thx for replies make good reading :P

sorry about the mention of other company wasnt intended i always get my parts from oc including my new that i couldnt wait for from insurance :D

But im insured by Barclays but its Ival working with Aviva ( norwich union ) who deals with there claims.

!st claim ive ever done with house insurance in 20+ years and i get grief the 1st time round :D

But ive phoned them up and indeed they still had on their system that i was offered a custom made pc and it would take 7-10 working days to complete.
Now im waiting on a phone call back from them ill let you know what happens

Well it does seem to be all Ival atm giving the problems.

I didnt get a call back so i rephoned them . and who ever i spoke to said the notes had been changed and i was never offered a new pc :D

But luckly i had kept a record of the times and dates when i spoke to them and asked for a copy of the recording and i also told them the model number of the pc which is their inhouse model numbers so it could have only come from them.

So someones being naughty and changing notes pretending nthing was said.

But i think they will be listening to the recordings tonight and getting back to me again tomorrow saying sorry.

But any whoo if nothing is done tomorrow i think ill call it aday and just private sell the stuff and buy more goodies from oc and let that be a end to it all.

Just an update to conclude things.

After asking to hear the recordings they have decided to send my all the parts needed to build a whole computer with the addition of a couple of extra free items.

so the trouble is over and fingers crossed i get the parts in the post and it can all be put behind me.

thank you for your support in my time of rant's

untill next time fairwell
