Yamipod - I use this now. No software installed on any PC. With this I can link my iPod to Windows and Linux systems. It claims to work with Macs, but I don't have access to a Mac to try. Interface is very simple and uncluttered.
I'll look into Yamipod. Fantastic: that would solved another major dislike for itunes in that it needs to be installed on each pc i connect the ipod to.might be able to change it to a rockbox
I've just looked into Anapod explorer and that looks more like the software i would prefer to use.

I know you said apart from ***** and Winamp!.. but have you tried the mlipod.dll plugin for winamp!.. I find it much better than the built in support![]()
