I hate the VXR forums sometimes

Frankly, torque steer is the least of FWD's problems. I don't know why it has such high regard in this conversation. It's practically a moot point considering FWD lacks any traction through weight transfer anyway. That was what my point about the Hyena scrambling to get away from some Lions was about. But of course, you completely missed it - though I can't say I didn't really expect it. If you can find a bigger issue with RWD than that then I am all ears.

Please stop assuring us that your Corsa doesn't torque steer. You've admitted you haven't even tried to do it.

I'm not twisting any words. What is happening is that, slowly, you're realising how ridiculous you're being and it is clouding your view and context of what you have said. This is a common problem when people start realising they are on the losing end of an argument.

I'm not surprised, I'm struggling to see the connection between a lion chasing a hyena and weight transfer under acceleration myself :p
 
Corsa VXR reviews..

Really hard acceleration, or getting the 'overboost' to come into play mid-range, will produce torque steer and needs some respect — especially, I would imagine,
on wet roads.

The car does appear to suffer from torque steer, although different reviewers seem to argue about how much.


I have driven the corsa VXR, and yes, it does have torque steer, much worse from a standing full bore start that from a roll-on start though.
 
Out of curiousity I did a quick Google to see if, just maybe, the Corsa VXR is better than other FWD cars in the torque steer department.

Absolutely ******* hilarious. Not wanting to 'believe everything I read on the internet' and all but somehow I think I give more value to the opinion of 1,000,000 Google hits than one person on an internet forum with a major case of purchase-justification-reflex.

I'll grant you this, perhaps ;) Though a Cheetah is RWD. A Hyena is most definately FWD.

Actually I think I might owe Top Gear a royalty payment...

I guess M3's are more prone to torque steer than a corsa vxr going by that logic?

I can see the FWD/RWD difference but I think any difference in running is more down to the fact a hyena is a smaller less powerful animal, rather than suffering from extreme weight transfer causing a loss of grip :p

Well even if it is impossible for a M3 to torque steer... I still give Google hits more weighting than this guy :p

Have you read any of those "bmw m3 torque steer" links that Google throws up? I haven't found one yet that actually talks about torque steer with a BMW M3.
 
Those complaining about torque steer in the Corsa are clearly idiots with little or no experience in fastish FWD cars, I don't suffer at all, perhaps a certain amount of that is natural reflex, but there is nothing I notice, and certainly nothing I have to fight.

I can accelerate from 10MPH without losing traction once, sure FWD requires a different driving style to AWD/RWD cars when corners are involved, but that isn't to say it is out right bad.

The FWD vs. RWD dispute has been done to death all over the internet, I don't dispute RWD is better in most circumstances, but that doesn't defer from the fact that I personally prefer FWD on the road, and FWD doesn't automatically make a car bad.

The point was just posting 'look how many hits it gets' is pointless, as a car that is RWD and can't torque steer gets 13 times more hits than one that can and does.

Malt_Vinegars post was more appropriate, actually quoting reviews rather than a number from a search engine.
 
Anyone starting to wonder now if this guy actually owns a Corsa VXR at all? Or even driven one? :D

I've noticed torque steer in my old remapped diesel mondeo! It'll happen in most moderately powerful FWD cars. It's not a criticism of the Corsa in particular, it's just the way it is. Pretty much every review about the VXR on the internet will mention torque steer.

I think the people talking about torque steer in a 190bhp corsa are EXACTLY the people who've had experience driving fast FWD cars.
