I hate the VXR forums sometimes

I've just read all 20 pages of that.

Good lord how stupid are some of those people? They lack even the most basic of logical thought processes, it's quite something to behold.

You gotta love owners club forums. Full to the brim with fanboys and narrow minded idiots.

MrLOL has opened a right can of worms with this one...

When factoring in value, I think it most certainly is.

The 197 is rigid as hell, goes around corners fantastically, but breaks your back in between them, also, I didn't like the revvy nature of the engine, mid range torque is my thing.

I didn't get a chance to test the Cooper S, as aesthetically, they just aren't my thing, but I did try the 207GTI which has the same engine afaik, the car was terrible, and the engine matched, it just felt lifeless and boring.

The Civic was the next contender after the Corsa, but it was a fair bit more cash for little gain, plus, again, not keen on revving the **** out of my car to get it to move, I don't believe it is a more capable car, either.

The Golf GTI starts at nearly £24k before adding any options, far more than I was willing to spend, simple as that. In fact, if you spec a Golf GTI up to the equipment levels as a £15k Corsa, it comes out at £27k, over £10k more.

Anyway, all this is really doing is boosting Fox's post count. Speaking of which, I spotted someone on here the other day with an even higher one.. can't remember who *ponders*

His logic is pretty warped, he thinks because it was cheap it makes it the best all rounder as in his eyes nothing that costs more can be classified as a better all rounder as its more expensive

I've been a passenger a few times in a Corsa VXR. It is very uncomfortable with the bucket seats and oversized wheels. No idea how it drives though.

So you like corsa VXR's...that doesn't make everything else worse then them just because you don't like them

The Clio 197/200 is significantly better than the Corsa VXR, back breaking ride? They have incredibly well damped suspension and isn't 'back breaking' in the slightest. I can slightly concede on the engine, well in that it trades mid-range torque for a great sound and rewarding experience anyway! (I'm even comparing this to my car, nothing like a good NA engine)

I'm not saying no other car is better, I'm saying as an "all round package" factoring cost/value, performance, handling, comfort, running costs and even tunability; it cannot be beaten at the moment, in my opinion. (Old, depreciated cars aside)

Spaz, I do agree, the 197 is a very good car, I absolutely loved driving one, but as a daily drive, I felt it would become tiresome. I also like my cabin space, in which the Clio was quite boring and seemed quite cheap and flimsy.

If I was 18 again, where low, hard suspension was seen as an advantage, and the only thing that mattered was going as fast as possible, then I'd probably have chosen the Clio.

Damn, rumbled.

What do you drive?

I'll make a thread just for my car later on, and you can read it and drool.

I wont engage in further discussions with you though, as you clearly will never accept you are wrong, even in the countless times on here you have been proven wrong, you are just on a rampage to increase your post count :)

After having read through all 20 pages of that thread I'm amazed at some of the members complete inability to even construct a sentence, how mr muz can afford to buy and run a vxr8 but can't spell/write to save his life is shocking and his aggressive posting really does make him sound like a bit of a penis particularly about him admitting driving like a **** and coming round roundabouts sideways at people. A lot of the posting styles and opinions on there does much to reinforce certain chavvy stereotypes if i'm honest.

It seems to be the typical "owners club" style of talking and generally people on owners clubs are such raving fanboys, that they will not listen to what anyone else says about their car.

Even when somebody fits crappy Halfords wheels to their car, everyone seems to say "wow dey look sik bruf!" even though they look utter ********.

Applying the "Time and a place" practice, sideways around a roundabout is great fun, and I see nothing wrong with it, one reason why I couldn't bring myself to sell my ACS 325 (and still own it two years since "replacing" it).

I'm far from a fanboy, I can think of a lot of non-Vauxhalls I'd sell my car for tomorrow, in fact, there are only two other Vauxhalls I'd consider owning, one isn't out yet, and the other would cost too much to run to be practical, IMO.

My next car will probably be an Audi, hows that for fan boy?

If you want to slide around sideways, do it on a track day or skid pan day. That's the time and place.
