I hate to say it..

Sorry but I don't spend large amounts of money on things I know are unreliable.

I have to agree on that, especially when the 360 has been out so long. The thread starter has a point, 'hassle' - why would I want to be worrying about breakages on something that is for entertainment? Definitely not the end of the world if it breaks but the 360 is, for me, unacceptable as an entertainment unit when it has its current issues. Shame, because there are some brilliant looking games available for it :)

oh for gods sake, if you want one just get one!

honestly, to anyone thinking of getting a 360 STOP FANNYING AROUND AND JUST BUY ONE!

IF it goes wrong, you'll be covered by the warranty. It's not the end of the world if it breaks.

Man, doesn't mean I ain't buying one, skint at the mo, summer I will have money. But this is truely the first time I have been worried about buying a console cos of all the breakage threads I read on the nets :/

EDIT: At least whenever my dreamcast broke there was a simple fix. It's a hassle to send stuff back plus don't you get a refurbished unit back?

"Xbox 360 owners have had issues with the red ring of death, including DailyTech staff, which is possibly due to the BGA packaging of the CPU and GPU. When things get too hot, the connection between the BGA part and the PCB can disconnect when the PCB warps. Microsoft has attempted to address this problem by surrounding the CPU and GPU with epoxy on the Xbox 360 Elite. It is unknown if newer revision Xbox 360 Core and Premium bundles feature the same preemptive measures."

Why should people buy something that is broken?

how long has it lasted?

would you say your room is hot?

how many hours do you use it per day?
I will answer this also;

Had mine since January 2006.

My Room is awfully hot, especially the area with the 360.

It gets left on all night quite a lot since I fall asleep during movies quite often.

Let me just say that some people will call the 360 reliable until the day that theirs (or someone they know) breaks. If this doesn't happen you will not changed their mind.

thats very interesting and nice to know.

chinese manufacturing obviously is not as consistent as japanese.

i wonder whether they run the 360's in for a few hours at the factory?

Lol at the luck.

My first 360 just kept freezing on games, and the playback was like "fuzzy" and the framerate was screwed too.

Sometimes it gave 3 red lights and sometimes it didn't.

Got that on 25th Dec 06 and it broke within 2 weeks.

well it seems to be the weather for it, mine just died this morning  keeps crashing (freezing) in every game, even demo's

that's the third one, will give it one more chance then i'm going back to my trusty ps2. luckily still under warranty

****** off
