(I don't really, just a sweeping generalisation made from anger).

Got a guy to quote me to lay a laminate floor last week, came round, had a look at the wood I bought, the floor it was laying on, £300 including skirting boards and I can do it whenever you want.
Fair enough I said, do it Friday.

So I take the day off, get everything swept and cleared and prepared for him.

He comes round, starts fitting it and then says.
"We're having real trouble fitting this floor, we can't do it with this wood"
And tells me he won't do it with any veneer floor and we have to buy stuff at £12 a square metre, which will end up costing me over £500 more for the room!

Naturally I tell him where to stick it, but now I'm stuck with a day off, no floor and a disaster on my hands!

So remember guys, don't go with "Buzz" unless your floor is hand made by gold plated italians in the vatican!

Edit: oh crap this was supposed to go in GD, would a kindly don move it please?

It sounds more like its not the normal brand he fits, but he didn't mention this at the quote stage (like you'd have expected if the different brand was going to be an issue for him... and I accept it quite often can be), but when he realised he was making a **** up of the job, he suddenly changed his mind and decided he didn't want to lay it

fit it yourself mate, it's not vey hard. take the skirting off, and leave the expansion gap under the skirting for a professional finish.

and whay is this in motors?

Laying a laminate floor is easy, me and my dad have done our lounge, kitchen and are in the process of doing the upstairs bathroom. The first few pieces are always a nightmare, but once it's started it slots together easily. As someone else has mentioned leave a gap near the walls for expansion and once you are done put down new skirting boards.

Yup so do i, the ***** came on tuesday and dropped the fences off so they can start doing the street lights out the back, they said were either starting this afternoon or tom, so you'll best of parking your car out the front as were digging the whole street up, as i park mine out in the back garden, aint seen the gits since.

Ive been thinking sod it im gona put it away tonight, but then thought, nah i know if i do the gits will be there in the morning and ill not be able to get the **** out.
