I have a 5090FE, what now?

970ti is that foreign to me I keep saying 9070ti. I had a gtx970 wasn't aware they made a 970ti unless it's from a lot earlier than maxwell.

Hi @Scania as far as i was aware i had the right model, but ypure right, it could have been a 980ti, i dont recall exactly but it was a ti model.

As to jump in performance, yes, thats the whole point. If you see any of my other posts and queries, i dont upgrade at every iteration, i keep what ive got until its barely capable then upgrade. What ive got right now, barring perhaps monitor, i fully expect to be using a decade from now, which , and again barring something breaking and forcing a timetable change, is when i will next upgrade. I want something that absolutely crushes any game now and will run with some level of playability games ten yrs from now. Hence, i went for the top of the range. I know chasing best gpu is a dangerous task but this is the one i settled for.

The 5090 i got from nvidias site early dec, upgraded but with the intention then of upgrading my games drive as i couldnt afford it then (the card itself almost wiped me out!). I had also had windows upgraded but that didnt work out too well, so its taken until late mar/early april to get the funds to get the ssd i wanted and get windows fixed, and hardware wise i think im where i want to be now hence the object of the post, to find out if somethings changed since the last time i upgraded my gpu.
Fair comment, you sound like a mate of mine who went from a 6800LE to a 1080ti (at a time when such a jump was huge) who literally didn’t know what any of the components in his PC were…

Fair do’s - although I can’t help thinking you’ve massively overspent here given the sudden jump in performance of your current and previous cards….

I’m assuming the 980ti (or 970ti or whatever) still cut the mustard with your usage? Surely you could, arguably should have just opted for something in the middle like a 5070ti for example?

Heck, I’ve recently upgraded from a 1080ti to a 3080ti, the majority of games I regularly play wouldn’t make a 1070 break sweat to be honest(!) - I predominantly play older titles, I’m guessing your similar maybe?
