I assume I can use the computer without a dedicated gpu connected using the cpu igpu? - Ive never done this but cannot seem to get it working.

The pcie red light comes on the MB when I try to start it up (cannot enter the bios to get it to use the igpu).

btw the computer works fine when I have my 970gtx or other gpus hooked up to it; but currently I only have 1 gpu in my new build and want both computers running at the same time.

any suggestions? -

thanks ya saw that - problem is the monitor I want to use only has a dvi connection and the mb has either a dvi or vga connection. I cannot even access the bios screen when I connect the dvi wire to the motherboard. I assume this has to do with the led light on the mb being lit up. I could install my gtx 970 and access the bios and trigger the igpu and then uninstall it? ...

Yep put in the gtx 970 to acess the bios and check settings .

These are my options, I can't seem to get it to work.

I have a dvi and a vga adaptor on my mb, my monitor is only dvi so using that cable.

I can boot fine using the 970gtx and same dvi wire but it does nothing (no signal flashing when using the mb dvi connected and either no gtx installed or installed but no dvi connected.)

I tried to force it once and put under primary display igfx but then I couldn't use my 970 either so had to reset the bios.

I should have kept my other gpu, now they are all exorbitant prices.

Any other ideas?

@djxput any luck is it listed ?

Sorry was working real late. Attempting to install drivers for the intel HD graphics 3000 atm, was this what you mean?

In the bios it has a multi gpu support but I'd like to use it as the only gpu if you know what I mean.

The above would only help once in Windows, when I tried booting without the 970 in I would not get a picture for bios let alone windows.

ok, I've got this exact MB right in front of me at the moment plugged in with a DVI, does this help:

Yes it does, I see you didn't enable multi gpu support, choose the igfx, and 32m for memory.

I tried enabling the igfx and I couldn't even boot from my 970 then let alone the mb. Do you think I need to lower the memory? It's set at 64 but could be default. What cpu do you have?

Ya I now have the HD Intel 3000 graphics and 970 like you have.

Leave the gtx 970 in for now with thd dvi cable attached power up into windows and put the dvi cable into the dvi motherboard.

See what happens.

If alls well turn off and remove thd 970 turn on.

Regretfully tried that, nothing is shown on the screen and the monitor light flashes green like there is no signal.

Maybe try a diffrent monitor and cable if you can to either hdmi or vga port apart from that im stumped.

Well a bit of a follow up. Was messing around trying to see if I could get the multimonitor to work with the igpu...

I never noticed there is a hdmi port on my mb (was covered by a wire and dusty - excuse)... I can't get my mb dvi plug to work with the dvi only monitor but the hdmi from mb to TV worked right away. Havnt tried solo igpu but I bet it will work.

Not sure what the deal is but maybe the dvi plug on the mb isn't working?

My wife is using my old hdmi 40inch philips knockoff, might have to try to steal that from her. I just preferred to use my dvi monitor for my old computer.

Least we know I'm not crazy as far as the mb igpu...
