I have a choice between these two cards ???

Thats what I said to the guy I told him I was not willing to pay extra for a card that as less performance, he said the 9800XT easily out performs the x800, so I checked some benchmarks out and I could see that the x800 is way better the 6600GT outperforms the 9800XT on some benchmarks he was selling one of these for £60 this is the one I wanted firstly and then he said he was keeping the 6600GT for his daugthers machine, but know I think he is taking to the computer exchange locally to him, he said they would give him £90 cash for the 9800XT ????
sounds like he is trying to con you into it mate, send him these

tell him to sell it locally and go for the x800pro (as long as its working perfect)

No question, the x800pro is a generation ahead of the 9800XT (I wouldn't say twice as good, but you'll notice the difference in any game released in the last year). That's a really good price for it too.
Real World.
My last card = 9800XT 3D Mark 05 score posted at just over 3k.
Current card = X800pro@pe 3D Mark 05 score currently posted @ 6007.
Odviously mine is unlocked and modded but you should get over 5k from Any X800pro.
Its a no brainer odviously. X800pro for the win.
That price is damn cheap though. I would want to see its temps under load or get some kind of gaurantee.
